The Olsrud Scholarship Fund

  This is a $2,000.00 renewable scholarship fund and is administered by the Oregon Community Foundation who uses the Oregon Student Assistance Commission to determine the recipient.

The requirements are:

  1. This fund is open to graduating seniors of Douglas, Jackson, Josephine and Klamath Counties.
  2. Must have a GPA of 2.50 – 3.75
  3. Prior recipients may apply – compete annually

  To apply, go to www.getcollegefunds.org and fill out the application. Note – it will be mid-October before the applications are available for the 2008-2009 year. 2007-2008 is past the deadline. To view this scholarship, click on the OSAC Scholarship button and search for Olsrud, Sherman and Wanda. The Scholarship code for this fund is 378.

 

The Olsrud 4H and FFA Scholarship Fund

   This is a $2,000.00 renewable scholarship fund and is administered by the Oregon Community Foundation who uses the Oregon Student Assistance Commission to determine the recipient.

The requirements are:

  1. This fund is open to graduating seniors of Douglas, Jackson, Josephine and Klamath Counties.
  2. Must have a GPA of 2.50 – 3.75
  3. Prior recipients may apply – compete annually
  4. At least 2 years participation in a 4-H or FFA program during high school.

The Sherm and Wanda Olsrud Endowed Scholarship

   This scholarship is available only for those attending Southern Oregon University.

Qualifications

  • Award will be based primarily on financial need.
  • Community involvement will be of secondary consideration.
  • Academic achievement will be the third selection criterion.
  • Must be accepted to Southern Oregon University, and, if a current student, must be in "good academic standing."
  • A current recipient will be given preference over a new one.

Terms of Assistance

  • The award will be for full in-state tuition/fees with only one award of a lesser amount. The number of awards issued will be determined by the expenditure policies of the SOU Foundation, which may be changed from time to time by the Foundation’s board of directors.
  • The recipient must remain a full time student during the period of the award.
  • The tuition will be credited directly to the students’ accounts in three equal payments at the beginning of fall, winter and spring.
  • The recipients are requested to send a letter of thanks c/o SOU Foundation, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520 prior to the distribution of the initial amount.

How to Apply

  • Complete the Southern Online Scholarship Application (SOSA). Details available at http://www.sou.edu/Finaid/.
  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Attach an unofficial transcript of previous academic work.
  • Provide letters of recommendation per instructions on the web site.

Deadline

   Check with the SOU Office of Financial Aid http://www.sou.edu/Finaid/ . Send all requested materials to the Financial Aid Office, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520.
